Disabled Access Information

Please find below disabled access information for each of our hotels. The primary use of this page is to assist perspective disabled guests and provide useful information which may be useful to know prior to your arrival. If you have any more questions or feel there is more information you require for your disability please contact us online and we will do our upmost to ensure we update this page as soon as possible.

The Mayfair Hotel

Prior to Arrival
Enquiries and reservation bookings can be made through our central reservations department (01534 735511) or via www.modernhotels.com

Airport and harbour transfers to the hotel can be arranged at the time of booking. Taxis are available and disabled taxis can be arranged on request. Directions to the hotel can be found on our website www.modernhotels.com/Contact/Hotel-Directions/

On Arrival at the Hotel
We have limited car parking available including designated disabled parking area. Porters available to assist with luggage.

Level entry into hotel with double doors providing easy access for wheelchairs.

Reception is open between 8.00 am – 11.00 pm every day. A 24 hour porter service is provided.

Credit facilites are available via reception when you provide credit card details. Most major credit cards accepted.

Valuables can be deposited at reception.

Reception Area
Reception is on one level with tiled floor leading to public areas and Guest Information Centre.

Public Areas
Wide tiled corridor from reception leads on to carpeted lounge and bar area, lifts, dining room, public toilets (including disabled toilets), ramp to coffee shop.

There are 3 steps from bar lounge to bar servery.

Tiled corridor leads from coffee shop area to games room and children’s soft play area, indoor pool and health complex and sun terrace. There are numerous stairs to access these areas.

Leisure Facilities
There are numerous stairs to access this area.

There is a indoor heated swimming pool with jacuzzi and steam room.

Opening hours - 7.00 am – 9.00 pm Monday to Friday and 7.30 am – 7.30 pm Saturday and Sunday. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Gym equipment includes Cardio Gym and 14 peices of various gym equimpent. There are also fixed weights and free weights.

The leisure facilities have changing rooms, coin operated lockers, showers and toilets and baby changing facilities in the ladies changing room.

Dining Room
There is seating in the dining room for all residents.

Table sizes can vary according to guests needs and requirements.

Special dietary needs can be catered for with prior notice. Full English Breakfast or Continental Breakfast served daily as well as Table d’hote and A La Carte evening meals with waiter service and bar service. 

Coffee shop service is available throughout the day. Opening times -10.00 am – 6.00 pm.

Room service is available via reception.

Laundry
There is a guest laundry room which is located on the first floor accessable via the lift from reception which has token operated washing machine, tumble drier, and iron and ironing board. Tokens are available from reception.

Outdoor Facilities
There are numerous stairs to gain access to the Sun terrace which has sunbeds, tables and chairs.

Functions
The Mayfair Hotel can cater for various types of in-house functions i.e. weddings, christenings, parties, conferences etc in our function facilities.

The Brooklyn Suite: Carpeted conference/party rooms with level entry on ground floor.

The Ritz Room: Conference/party room with private bar and dance floor accessed by numerous steps.

Entertainment
The Mayfair Hotel provides a varied entertainment programme most evenings during the summer months i.e. bingo, carabet, quizzes etc. See reception for details. The Kids Klub entertainment programme runs throughout the summer holidays for children aged 5 – 11 years old.

Accommodation
Most rooms accessed via lift from reception. All have private facilites, i.e. toilets, bath/showers, TV, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer, radio. We do not have adapted bathrooms and grab rails are not in the bedrooms as standard.

There are no fridges in bedrooms however a fridge is available at reception to store essential items i.e. medication.

Three steps or ramp into hotel with two sets of double doors providing easy access for wheelchairs.

Reception is open between 8.00 am – 11.00 pm every day. Low level desk is available and a 24 hour porter service is provided.

Credit facilites are available via reception when you provide credit card details. Most major credit cards accepted.

Valuables can be deposited at reception.

Reception Area
Reception is on one level with tiled floor throughout leading to public areas and guest information centre. Complimentary wi-fi available in reception only. Public pay phones in reception.

Public Areas
Wide tiled corridor from reception leads into carpeted lounge and bar area, lift to guest rooms and quiet lounge/reading room, seven ground floor rooms, public toilets (including disabled toilets and baby changing) carpeted dining room and games room. Tiled corridor leads to garden area, leisure complex and coffee shop. There are several steps to health complex and coffee shop.

Leisure Facilities
There are several steps to access this area. Indoor heated swimming pool with jacuzzi and steam room. Small gym equipped with 7 pieces of various gym equimpment and free weights.

There is an outdoor pool and childrens paddling pool adjacent sun deck with tables, chairs and sun loungers. The outdoor pool and coffee shop area can be accessed via the gardens and ramp.

The leisure facilities have changing rooms, lockers, showers and toilets. Towels and sunbed cushions are provided.

Dining Room
There is seating in the dining room for all residents.

Table sizes can vary according to guests needs and requirements.

Special dietary needs can be catered for with prior notice. Full English Breakfast or Continental Breakfast served daily as well as Table d’hote and A La Carte evening meals with waiter and bar service.

The dining room is open between 8.00 am – 9.30 am for breakfast and re-opens at 6.00 pm to 8.30 pm for dinner.

A continental breakfast is available in your room. Please see reception for details.

Coffee Shop

Coffee shop is open daily serving drinks and hot and cold snacks throughout the day. Opening times -10.00 am –5.30 pm.

Room service is available via reception between 6.30 pm – 11.00pm.

Laundry
There is a guest laundry room which is located close to the coffee shop. This facility has token operated washing machine, tumble drier, and iron and ironing board. Tokens are available from reception.

Service washes are also available from Reception. See laundry list in room.

Outdoor Facilities
There is a quiet secluded garden area with tables and chairs and small fish pond which leads on to outdoor pool/sun lounge area.

We have a bar patio area to the front of the hotel accessed by a ramp.

Functions
The Hotel Metropole can cater for various types of in-house functions i.e. weddings, christenings, parties, conferences etc in our function facilities.

The Granite Suite: is a purpose built conference/party room with level entry on ground floor which is carpeted throughout.

Larger functions can be catered for in our 300 seat dining room complete with dance floor, toilets and adjustable ambience lighting.
